My name is Becky Thompson, and I am a fine art photographer focusing on seascape and landscape photography.
I've been passionate about taking pictures from the moment I first held a camera in my hands.
Similarly, I fell in love with the sea the first time I laid eyes on it. There is no place on this earth where I feel more at home or at peace.
I first opened my professional photography business in 2006 in Idaho with an initial focus on children and families. I joined the National Association of Charitable Photographers at that time as well, donating time and photographs to help children in search of adoptive families for KTVB News Channel 7's "Wednesday's Child" feature, in Boise, Idaho. My work has also been featured in print in several newspapers and magazines as well as other television outlets including PBS.
In 2010, I put the photography business on hold to fulfill another dream - finishing my education. I graduated from Boise State University with a degree in Criminal Justice Administration. Shortly after, my family and I relocated to the Willamette Valley in Oregon, and I realized that while finishing my degree was important to me, my heart belonged behind the lens - and with the geography problem finally diminished, I could combine my love of the ocean with my passion for photography....and Becky Thompson Photography was reborn and renamed "Chasing Waves Photography".
My goal with my work is simple, and it is exactly the same as it was when I focused on people: capture life. This world tells an endless story in every single moment. I hope to tell a few of them in the images I create. I hope you see stories in them, as well.
